4 Dutton Street
Construction is well underway!
Greater
Manchester Habitat for Humanity broke ground on the Dutton
Street property in the fall of 2005. We plan to complete the
project in the next few months.
The
property is located at 4 Dutton Street (on the corner with
Amherst Street). The completed home will be a duplex and will
house two families (one on the first floor and one on the
second floor). Both units are roughly 1,000 sq. feet of living
space efficently designed with three bedrooms each.
The two families that have been selected are looking forward
to their future home.
Lastest Update on the Home's Progress:
Volunteers have been working
on the project throughout the months of March and April. The
framing and siding of the house was completed in early spring.
Volunteers over the past several weekends have worked to successfully
complete the drywalling throughout the house. Currently, the
taping and mudding is underway. In May, we expect to start
the interior painting and trim work. Work days are typically
Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. Full and half day volunteers are
welcome. Lunch sponsors are also needed for work days.
If
you are interested in volunteering in the coming weekends,
please email us at .
We could especially use individuals experienced in contruction
to act as project leads but we appreciate anyone interested
in helping.
If
you are interested in making a donation to this project, as
a personal or corporate sponsor, please contact
us.
We are excited about building hope for two worthly families!!

Please check back as we will
be posting photos
of the project soon!
Help Fill ‘em Up!
The units will each be heated with
an oil fired furnace, and the tanks for each furnace need
to be filled before the new homeowners move in. With home
heating oil now approaching $4 per gallon, it will cost around
$1100 to fill each tank. Donations to help reduce this cost
will be greatly appreciated. They can be mailed to Greater
Manchester Habitat for Humanity, 250 Commercial Street, Suite
4019, Manchester, NH 03101. If total donations exceed the
cost of the oil, they will be used toward other costs of the
house.
